Profiles of Monroeville’s Prominent Families

 

 

The families listed here are some of those that arrived early (mostly before the Civil War) in the area, and stayed here for some time, at least through several generations, to contribute to building our community. They are only a sampling, representative of the many who came here to build new lives throughout our history. 

 
Over the years, many people have contributed to the information that has found its way into the files of the Monroeville Historical Society.  Thanks are due to the members of the Society, especially Marilyn Chandler, Paul Damon, and Dan Nowak, who helped to collect and preserve family information over the years.  Special thanks go to Judy Welsh for her superb genealogical detective work, and to Janet Aber English for her help in formulating family trees.  And of course, thanks are due to the many descendents of those pioneering families who so generously contributed to our files.
