<description>In the late 1700s what was to become Monroeville was nothing more than a few scattered farms. In the more than 200 years that have passed, Monroeville has become a thriving suburban center of commerce and home to some 30,000 residents. On this site the Monroeville Historical Society presents the story of our community. In these pages you will find the surprisingly rich history of Monroeville as told in words and pictures. We invite you to spend a little time with us, get to know Monroeville, and consider joining the historical society in its mission to preserve and foster our community&amp;rsquo;s historical heritage. The Monroeville Historical Society holds its regular meetings on the third Tuesday of each month (except for August and December) at The Monroeville Public Library at 7pm. The public is invited. A complete listing of activities and events may be found by clicking on Current Events in the front page menu. Those planning a visit using a GPS should enter the following address: 2381 McGinley Road, Monroeville, PA 15146. Do not send correspondence to this address; see e-mail us on menu for further contact information. __________________________________Note: The Society&amp;#39;s latest publication -- A History of Patton Township (Monroeville and Pitcairn) , is now available for $40.00 in the hardback edition.
