![]() Matelan House in 2006 Matelan House, 1920 Originally a small 2-story wood frame house, this modest house is of a simple box design with a gable roof, an offset front door opening onto a front porch, and a side entrance that at one time opened onto side porch. At one time the house was sheathed in Insulbrick, and the back porch closed in to create an addition on the back. Built by the Mateyi family in the 1920s, the house has remained in the family throughout the years. It is located near what is said to be an old mule trail, not far from the old Northern Pike route heading east through the hills towards Pittsburgh. |
